This sculpture (foreground) by Stephen Walker commemorates the port's role in Antarctic exploration by recognising English explorer James Clark Ross (1800-1862) who sailed from Hobart in 1840 to discover Antarctica's Victoria Land and the sea and ice shelf that carry his name. Docked boat in background.
