"His Excellency Sir Anthony Musgrave, the Governor of the colony, arrived in the steamer 'Governor Blackall' and was received by the volunteers under command of Captain Brandon, the Fire Brigade, and various friendly societies......shortly before six o'clock the Volunteers marched across to the Australian Joint Stock Bank, where Captain Brandon was presented with a handsome set of photographs of the officers and non-commissioned officers of the F Company. This collection of photographs was mounted in a large frame which was beautifully and suitably illuminated." (Information taken from The Mackay Standard 10 December 1883, researched by Mackay historian, Berenice Wright).
