Late afternoon of stranding - still steaming (boiler operable); tug Ugo attempting to free ship which is now bow to sou sou east fairly sitting atop Beagle reef/rocks. Ship was never lodged from this position until finally destryed by explosives in 1970. Wreck clearly visible from shore (at low tide) until then even though severely degraded.
