Tumut is a town on the Snowy Mountains Highway in south New South Wales, Australia situated about 320km west-southwest of Sydney (show me). Tumut has a population of around 6,200 and is a medium sized town for Australia. Tumut is at an elevation of approximately 278m above sea level. The nearest sea is the Tasman Sea which is part of the South Pacific Ocean about 180km east-southeast of Tumut.

Tumut is on the Tumut River.
