The Range was named by Samuel Grau Hubbe in 1895-96 when traveling from Oodnadatta and Coolgardie. It was named after his late father, Dr Ulrich Hubbe (1805-1892), who was partner in the creation of the Torrens Title System, established originally in South Australia, but now used extensively world-wide.
